What we store and why

Privacy

A plain description of every kind of data RustHub holds about you, who can see it, and how to have it removed.

01What we collect from Discord

When you sign in, we store your Discord user ID, your display name, and your avatar URL. We use the ID to recognise you and to match your website account to the same account the bot sees in Discord.

We do not receive or store your Discord password, your email address, or your payment details. We never ask for a password of any kind.

02What the bot records in Discord

So that activity can earn scrap, the bot keeps running counts against your account: how many messages you have sent, how many minutes you have spent in voice channels, and when you were last credited for a message.

We store counts, not content. The bot does not store the text of your messages, and it does not record or listen to audio in voice channels — it only notes when you join and leave so it can count minutes.

03Accounts you choose to link

You can optionally link a Steam ID, a BattleMetrics player profile, and content channels such as YouTube, Twitch, Kick, TikTok, Medal or Streamable. None of this is required to use RustHub.

If you link BattleMetrics, we periodically ask BattleMetrics how many minutes that player ID has spent on the servers staff have configured, and credit scrap for the difference. We send your BattleMetrics player ID to them to do this. We do not receive your IP address or location from them.

If you link a content channel, we fetch public information about it — recent video titles, thumbnails, view counts, and whether the channel is currently live — and cache it so pages load without calling those services on every visit. We send your channel handle or ID to those services. We do not gain access to your account there and cannot post as you.

04What you give us directly

Anything you type into RustHub: clan names, descriptions, recruitment pitches, taglines, slogans, creator bios, callout messages, and the links you add.

Evidence you submit: video URLs and kill timestamps for bounty claims, match videos for clan challenges, and screenshots for wipe roster entries. Admins can see these, and they are kept as the record of how a result was decided.

Your date of birth, if you provide it in order to enter a competition with a real-world prize. We store it to check eligibility.

05Your activity on the site

We keep a ledger of every scrap movement on your account — what you earned, what you spent, when, and on what. This is how balances stay auditable and how we detect abuse.

We store your clan membership and role, your bounties and claims, your promotions, and which onboarding quests you have been paid for.

We record when you join or leave the Discord server, and when you link or change a Steam or BattleMetrics ID. Onboarding is paid once per account, so this is how we tell a member coming back from a second account being made to be paid for signing up again. We do not log IP addresses or device fingerprints.

06Cookies

We set one cookie: a session cookie that keeps you signed in after you authenticate with Discord. It is required for the site to work and cannot be turned off while you are signed in.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics. We do not sell data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

07Who can see what

Public to anyone: your display name and avatar, your clan and role, your scrap balance on the public leaderboard, your public profile, any creator profile you have approved, and any clan or recruitment content you post.

Visible to admins only: your linked account IDs, your transaction ledger, your claim evidence and admin notes on it, your date of birth if you provided one, and any note staff have written about whether two accounts belong to the same person.

If you do not want your balance to appear publicly, tell us and we will exclude you from the leaderboard.

08Where it is stored, and for how long

Data is held in a Postgres database on infrastructure controlled by the people running this instance of RustHub. Access is limited to admins.

We keep your account data while your account exists. Cached creator videos and live status are refreshed continuously and overwritten. Transaction ledger entries are kept as long as the account exists, because they are what makes balances auditable.

09Your rights

You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct anything wrong, unlink any linked account, remove content you posted, exclude you from the public leaderboard, or delete your account entirely.

To do any of that, message an admin in the Discord. We will action reasonable requests promptly and at no cost.

On deletion we remove your profile, linked IDs, socials, activity counts, date of birth, and any content you posted. We may retain a minimal anonymised record of past competition results and scrap movements where removing them would corrupt other people’s standings or the audit trail — those records will no longer identify you.

Depending on where you live you may have additional statutory rights, including the right to complain to a data protection authority.

10Children

RustHub is not intended for children under the minimum age Discord requires in your country. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone below that age. If you believe a child has an account here, tell an admin and we will remove it.

11Security, honestly stated

We limit admin access, never store passwords, and validate the links people submit. But this is a community project, not a bank. Do not put anything here you would not be comfortable seeing become public.

If you find a security problem, please report it privately to an admin in the Discord rather than posting it publicly, and give us a chance to fix it.

12Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted in the news feed.
